What the care home does well
Residents live in a home which is decorated, furnished and maintained to a good standard. Resident`s bedrooms are spacious, comfortable and personalised. The home is clean, tidy and odour free. Complaints management and referrals to the local safeguarding team, are well managed and documented with a clear audit trail. In general terms robust recruitment procedures are in place within the care home so as to safeguard people who live there. Visiting arrangements in the home ensure that people, who live at Medina Road, get to see their relatives and/or friends at any reasonable time. Support is given to one person so as to ensure that they go home regularly and have the opportunity to stay overnight. 28 Medina Road DS0000018084.V376345.R01.S.doc Version 5.2 Staffing levels at the home are appropriate for the numbers and needs of current residents.
What has improved since the last inspection?
Medication practices and procedures in the home have now improved.
What the care home could do better:
Ensure that care plans for individual people are reflective of their specific care needs, are up to date and provide clear guidance for staff as to how care should be provided and risk areas proactively managed. Further training, in both core subject areas and training specifically centred around the needs of people who have a learning disability to be provided to all staff. All staff to be supervised at regular intervals.
