What the care home does well
People benefit from being consulted with and participate in all aspects of life in the home. People living at the home benefit from opportunities and appropriate support to develop, access leisure and educational facilities both locally and in the wider community including holidays, day trips and visits to family and friends. There are high staff ratios to ensure each individual is provided with good levels of support and is able to access community based facilities when they wish to do so. The staff who work in the home are confident in the use of British Sign Language, as this is the primary form of communication of the people who live in the home. The home is run in the best interests of the people living there.
What has improved since the last inspection?
The staff team have been provided with refresher training in how to respond appropriately to any incident of challenging behaviour. Some staff have also attended manual handling training helping to promote the welfare and safety of the people living at the home and staff members. The home is in the process of extending some areas to provide more communal space. The home has continued to review its progress and development in providing information in accessible formats for the people living at the home.
What the care home could do better:
No requirements have been made. Two good practice recommendations have been made. Keep us informed of incidents that may harm the well being of people living at the home and ask us for advice whether an official notification is needed. Continue to review progress and development in providing information in accessible formats for the people living at the home.
