What did we do for this annual service review? We looked at all the information that we have received, or asked for, since the last key inspection. This included: The annual quality assurance assessment (AQAA) that was sent to us by the service. The AQAA is a self-assessment that focuses on how well outcomes are being met for people using the service. It also gave us some numerical information about the service. Surveys returned to us by people using the service and from other people with an interest in the service. Information we have about how the service has managed any complaints. What the service has told us about things that have happened in the service, these are called notifications and are a legal requirement. The previous key inspection and the results of any other visits that we have made to the service in the last 12 months. Relevant information from other organisations. What other people have told us about the service. What has this told us about the service? Our last key inspection on the 9th March 2009 judged the two outcome groups Personal and Healthcare Support and Staffing as excellent. The remaining six outcome groups were assessed as good. Consequently the overall rating was assessed as 3 Star Excellent. The homes annual quality assurance assessment (AQAA) was returned when we asked for it. It was clear and gave us all the information we asked for. We looked at the information in the AQAA and our judgement is that the home is still providing an excellent service, they have good self monitoring systems in place and they know what they do well and where they can make improvements. We received completed surveys from four relatives, eight staff and four professionals. They confirmed that people receive a high standard of care and support and raised no concerns. Comments we received from professionals include; They take on board all advice given, The carers are always respectful of the young peoples privacy and dignity and They seek advice and support appropriately. Comments we received from relatives include; Staff do a great job, Gives a high quality of care and We are very happy with all care staff, the services they provide and the facilities that are available. Annual Service Review Page 4 of 6 Staff that completed surveys told us that they they receive up to date information about the needs of the people they support. They also told us that their recruitment was done fairly and thoroughly and the feedback about supervision, training and development was good. Since the last inspection The Commission has not received any complaints or concerns. The AQAA tells us that the service received three formal complaints, two of which were upheld. There has been nil safeguarding referrals relating to this service. The manager works well with us and keeps us informed about things that happen at the home. They have shown us that they manage and respond to incidents well. What are we going to do as a result of this annual service review? As a result of this review we have not changed our inspection plan and intend to do a key inspection by 8th March 2012. However we can inspect the service at any time if we have concerns about the quality of the service or the safety of the people using the service. Annual Service Review Page 5 of 6 Reader Information
