Annual Service Review Page 3 of 6 Service update since the last key inspection or annual service review: What did we do for this annual service review? We looked at all the information that we have received, or asked for, since the last key inspection or annual service review. This included: - The annual quality assurance assessment (AQAA) that was sent to us by the service. The AQAA is a self-assessment that focuses on how well outcomes are being met for people using the service. It also gave us some numerical information about the service. - Surveys returned to us by people using the service and from other people with an interest in the service. - Information we have about how the service has managed any complaints. - What the service has told us about things that have happened in the service, these are called notifications and are a legal requirement. - The previous key inspection on 16 October 2007. - Relevant information from other organisations. - What other people have told us about the service. What has this told us about the service? The home sent us their annual quality assurance assessment (AQAA) when we asked for it. It was clear and gave us all the information we asked for. We looked at the information in the AQAA and our judgment is that the home is still providing a good service and that they know what further improvements they need to make. The home has made the following improvements after listening to people since the last Annual Service Review (ASR) on 14 October 2008. - The home introduced a comments and suggestion book for service users and visitors. - People using the service asked for an exercise machine, which has been purchased. - People using the service continue being supported to go on holiday and to day trips. - People using the service are involved in weekly grocery and vegetable shopping. - The home built a shelter in the garden for people using the service choosing to smoke. - The home purchased a new barbecue. - People using the service asked for more storage and the home made the garage available for people to store possessions. The home provided a very detailed AQAA, which told us that people using the service were assisted to vote in the European Election. The home did not receive any complaints since the previous ASR in October 2008. The home has five permanent staff employed four of these staff hold relevant qualification in care. We have received five completed staff surveys. Comments by staff have been very positive and staff told us, that the home provides a quality service for people using the service. We have received two service users surveys in Gujarati, which have been translated by the Care Quality Commission. People tell us that they are happy with the home. One comment made I really like the food. Health care professionals informed us that they are happy the way the home is run and managed. Annual Service Review Page 4 of 6 The home has undertaken a quality assurance survey in April 2009, evidence show that 97 of people using the service a very or quite satisfied with the service provided by the home. What are we going to do as a result of this annual service review? We are not going to change our inspection plan, and will do a key inspection by 10th October 2010. However we can inspect the service at any time if we have concerns about the quality of the service or the safety of the people using the service.
