The service last had a Key Inspection in April 2007, when it was rated as excellent. A visit was made to this home on June 3rd 2010. We found that the home continues to provide good outcomes for the people who use the service. We looked at the procedure for making effective complaints, this included time scales for the process and how the residents can make a complaint. The service holds forums where the residents are encouraged to air their concerns; there is also a facility to allow those residents who wish to make a confidential complaint to do so. Each resident who enters the home are given a copy of the complaints procedure and they are regularly reminded of this procedure. We talked with three residents who told us that they were aware of the complaints procedure and they also told us about the forum where they are encouraged to air their concerns. One resident told us I dont have any concerns, but I know who to go to if I have. Another resident said we are encouraged to share issues and we are given forms to evaluate our care we get We also noted that the staff were up to date with their training in relation to safeguarding vulnerable adults. The service has updated their procedure for recording and reporting critical incidents, this is in response to a requirement made at the last Key Inspection. We found that there had been no incidents that had needed to be reported to the Commission.
