Date of last inspection Brief Description of the Service: 42 - 44 Lansdowne Road is registered to provide care for eight adults with learning disabilities. The home consists of one semi-detached property and one detached property situated next door to each other. The accommodation is intended for those who are capable of semi-independent living. The home is situated close to Aylestone Road, approximately one mile from the city centre. A regular bus service to and from the centre can be accessed close to the home. This is an overview of what the inspector found during the inspection. This was the second statutory inspection this year. The three standards not examined at the last inspection were looked at. The inspector spoke with residents and staff during the inspection. Residents’ comments were positive they all had a pleasant Christmas. One resident was preparing potatoes for lunch. Service users retain, administer and control their own medication where appropriate, and are protected by the home’s policies and procedures for dealing with medicines. The ageing, illness and death of a service user are handled with respect and as the individual would wish. The Commission considers Standards 18, 19, and 20 the key standards to be inspected at least once during a 12 month period. JUDGEMENT – we looked at outcomes for the following standard(s): 18,20 Residents’ are given personal support in a way that is suitable for them. Residents are protected by the home’s medication procedures. EVIDENCE: Residents do not require personal support. They are assisted and guided in completing their day-to-day tasks. Residents are able to choose their own clothes and to choose when they go to bed and get up in the morning. At the last inspection a recommendation was made that staff check to ensure that residents have taken their medication.
