This inspection was carried out on 7th April 2008.
CSCI found this care home to be providing an Adequate service.
The inspector found there to be outstanding requirements from the previous inspection report. These are things the inspector asked to be changed, but found they had not done. The inspector also made 7 statutory requirements (actions the home must comply with) as a result of this inspection.

What the care home does well
The home had made appropriate arrangements for the service user to contact and visit family. There was evidence that the home supported service users to maintain family links and friendships inside and outside the home. The staff and the service users have good working relationship; this was observed during the inspection process.
What has improved since the last inspection?
Three service users bedrooms have been redecorated, and new carpet has been replaced in one of the service users bedroom. The kitchen has been refurbished and walk in shower work was in progress. 2 service users have foot spa bath.
What the care home could do better:
The registered manager must evidence that each service user care plan is drawn up with the involvement of the service user together with family, and/or advocate as appropriate, and relevant agencies. The registered manager must evidence that at all times suitably qualified and experienced persons including agency staff are working as are appropriate for the health and welfare of service users. The registered manager must evidence that all staff including agency staff receive training appropriate to the work they are to perform. The registered manager must evidence that all staff including agency staff working at the home are appropriately supervised.The registered person must ensure that all complaints are responded within 28 days after the date on which complaint is made. The registered manager must ensure that each individual service user changing health needs is monitored and potential complications and problems are identified and dealt with at early stage. The registered manager must evidence that a written contract between the home and the service user is agreed and signed. Activities must be provided that consistently meet the individual interests of the people at the home. Through sufficient staffing and arrangements of the designated recreational space in the home. A statement of purpose and service user guide containing all matters detailed in the relevant regulations, should be made available in a format suitable to all people in the home and prospective people so that they know what services the home can and will provide.
