Care Homes for Adults (18-65 years) Page 3 of 11 What we found:
We made an unannounced visit to the home just before lunch time. Two service users were in the home with another out of the home on a shopping trip. The registered person and two staff were on duty. We spoke to all of those in the home, and asked the staff how they would recognise and deal with safeguarding situations. Staff knew about the process for safeguarding and whistleblowing, but were unsure of how to follow up issues. There were two members of staff on duty. One had recent training in safeguarding. The other member of staff was employed through an employment agency, and it was not possible to ascertain if they had any safeguarding training. When these staff were questioned about the process involved neither understood the process or how to report on, safeguarding issues.
