The need for a visit to the home was identified as part of the Commission for Social Care Inspections Annual Service Reveiw for Collingtree Park. The Commission conducts Annual Service Reveiws on services that it has rated as good or exellent when a full key inspection is not planned. The process of this reveiw involved looking at all the information received by the Commission in the previous twelve months. This information showed that there had been a high turn over of staff at Collingtree Park. A visit to the home was conducted over the period of one hour to look at staffing and identify any possible reasons for high numbers of staff leaving. During the visit the inspector spoke to the nurse in charge, several staff members and two people who live at the home. The staff rota was also viewed. Staff turnover at Collingtree Park has been high with a number of full and part time staff leaving in the previous eighteen months. No one under lying reason could be identified during the inspection to suggest why staff may have left. Staff spoken to say that their colleagues left for a number of different reasons which were not all work related. For example some overeas workers left to return to their home countries, some people left to further their careers elsewhere, some people found the home difficult to get to on public transport others left for personal reasons. Staff say that having a lot of new workers may impact on residents, but they have tried to minimise this as much as possible. Staff state that there are a number of staff who have worked at Collingtree Park for a long time and so know the people who live there very well. Their experience has helped the new staff to maintain a consistent approach to peoples care. Staff say they are given a good induction and feel that they have all the information they needed to meet peoples needs. What the care home does well: What they could do better:
