What the care home does well

The manager told us that she had met with the entire staff team and had one to one with them all so that she was able to establish training needs. She had also held a residents and relatives meeting and spoken to them about her plans for the home. Three staff from the home had attended a reminiscence course and were preparing a variety of different ways to stimulate the residents. The manager was involving the staff team in discussions about care planning and how this should be undertaken. She was also reviewing how risks were managed.

What the care home could do better:

At this visit we were not aware of any additional requirements and believed the manager and the staff were working to improve the service

Care Homes for Older People Page 3 of 9 What we found: This short inspection visit was to met the new manager for the service and ensure that she understood the requirements made at the last Key Inspection, and her responsibility to work with the provider to meet these. We also wanted to make her aware of the discussion we had had in the past with the providers informing them of our enforcement processes if further breaches were found. The new manager, Doreen Bourne, had been in post for approximately a month and had completed an induction period with a manager who had been holding the service in the absence of the manager. At the time of this visit we spoke to some staff and people using the service. They all appeared to be happy with the new arrangement and were settling into routine. The home had had some new admissions, but only 15 of the bedrooms were occupied.
