This is an overview of what the inspector found during the inspection. This was an unannounced inspection that took place on a weekday. When undertaking inspections the Commission for Social Care Inspection (CSCI) focuses on the outcomes for residents living in a home. In order to do this, the inspector ‘case tracked’ four residents. This means the inspector checked their care records and, where appropriate, met with them. In addition the inspector met a further two residents, and interviewed the Manager and one carer. Further care and other records were examined. The Manager and staff are commended for running the home so effectively. No recommendations or requirements were made. What the service does well:
Glenfield Woodlands is a friendly and well-run home. Is maintained, decorated, and furnished to a high standard. It is evident that great care has been taken to make the premises and the extensive gardens attractive and pleasant. Residents’ care needs are met by a team of warm and professional care workers. All residents interviewed made many positive comments about the home including: ‘This is a very happy place.’ ‘It’s a very good home and I’ve got no complaints.’ ‘The staff are very particular and that’s why the home is so clean.’ ‘This home is immaculate.’ ‘Everyone’s very nice here.’ ‘The staff are very nice and very patient.’ ‘My relatives love visiting me here.’ ‘I love it here and I’ve been very happy since I moved in.’ ‘You couldn’t find one fault with this home.’ ‘All the staff are wonderful.’ During the inspection lunch was served. Prior to this residents were offered a sherry in the lounges. One resident commented, ‘Isn’t this lovely. We have sherry together every day before lunch.’ Residents then went through to the dining room, which overlooks the garden. Lunch consisted of chicken casserole with herb dumplings, Lyonnaise potatoes, and peas, followed by chocolate mousse with cream and mandarin oranges. The meal was unhurried and the atmosphere friendly and relaxed. It was observed during the inspection that the Manager and staff work effectively together. The Manager said ‘I have an excellent staff team at the moment and we all pull together to get things done.’ A care worker said ‘This is
Glenfield Woodlands DS0000006397.V265728.R01.S.doc Version 5.0 Page 6 a nice place to work and the Manager’s always there for us.
