The last key inspection on was carried out on the 10/08/2007 when the current rating of a 3 star, excellent service was made. An Annual Service Review was carried out on the 08/08/2008. For this Annual Review we looked at all the information that we have received, or asked for, since the last key inspection on 10/08/2007. This included: 1. The Annual Quality Assurance Assessment (AQAA) that was sent to us by the service. The AQAA is a self -assessment that focuses on how well outcomes are being met for people using the service. It also gave us some numerical information about the service. The AQAA document was appropriately completed by the manager and provided evidence for this report. 2. Surveys returned to us by people using the service. 3. Information we have about how the service has managed complaints, together with incidents, accidents and allegation details and the services actions taken to investigate each individual case. 4. What the service has told us about things that have happened in the service; these are called notifications and are a legal requirement. 5. The previous inspection. What has this told us about the service? The service continues to offer excellent care to people living in the home. The AQAA informed us that people are regularly consulted in a variety of ways. Dignity is upheld and there are strong policies and procedures to enforce this. The home has demonstrated they are aware of and are responsive to The Mental Capacity Act and any deprivation of liberty. Staff training is effective in that appropriate and current legislation is essential training for staff. Most care staff have acheievd National Vocational Qualifications in level2 awards in care and a good number of staff have achieved NVQ level 3 & 4 awards in care. The home has stated where they can improve and we expect the home will continue to aim for even further improvements. What are we going to do as a result of this annual service review? We are not going to change our inspection plan and will do a key inspection by 07/08/2010. However, we can inspect the service at any one time if we have concerns about the quality of the service, or about the safety of people using the service.
