The purpose of this inspection visit was to check compliance with a statutory requirement notice which was served on 18th February, 2009. The statutory requirement notice was served as a result of breaches of the Care Homes Regulations 2001. Within the notice there were requirements which related to the checks that the home is required to carry out on all staff prior to them commencing employment in the home to ensure that they are suitable to work with older people. In order to check compliance with the requirements in the notice we needed to review the staff files and recruitment documentation for any staff members recruited after the timescale given in the notice. The date that the home were required to achieve compliance was 15th March, 2010. The acting manager confirmed that no staff had commenced employment at the home between 15th March, 2010 and the date of inspection. She stated that six new staff members had been recruited but that they had not commenced employment as the home is still awaiting some of their pre recruitment checks, such as their criminal records bureau checks, to be completed.
