This inspection was carried out on 9th October 2006.

The inspector made no statutory requirements on the home as a result of this inspection and there were no outstanding actions from the previous inspection report.

What the care home does well

The health and social care of residents was effectively planned though more evidence of resident involvement in this process is necessary. The environment at the Home was generally maintained to a good standard and health and safety issues were competently monitored. The Home had a systematic approach to developing staff skills.

What has improved since the last inspection?

The Home has responded appropriately to Requirements made at the previous inspection and the redecoration of corridors and staircase areas has been completed. The Environmental Health Officer`s findings have been dealt with satisfactorily. Systems for the supervision of staff have been developed and staff competencies and practice in the administration of medicines have been reviewed.

What the care home could do better:

The Home should develop a more systematic and active approach to obtaining the views of residents, relatives, staff and visiting professionals regarding the quality of services that are provided. The maintenance of bathroom provision is in need of review.
