What did we do for this annual service review? The registered provider was asked to provide the Commission with an Annual Quality Assurance Assessment (AQAA). This gives the provider the opportunity to carry out an assessment of the service and to tell us how well outcomes are being met for people using the service, what the service is doing well, what has improved since the last inspection visit and how the service can continue to improve. It also provides us with information on how the provider is promoting equality and diversity within the service and it provides us with data on residents, staffing and policies and procedures. The AQQA was read in detail and some of the information in this has been used to help infom our findings of this annual review. We have looked at whether there have been any complaints or allegations made to the home or to the Commission about the home and how these have been managed. We have considered the findings of the last key inspection and the results of any other visits that we have made to the service in the last 12 months. We have looked at any notifications received from the home. Notifications are made about any incidents which may adversly effect the health and well being of residents and the registered provider has a legal obligation to make these. We have reviewed all information received regarding the home since the last inspection visit. Some of this information may have been received from the owner or manager of the home, from visiting professionals or from direct contacts to the Commission. What has this told us about the service? The providers assessment (AQAA) has informed us that there have been developments to the service over the past 12 months. These developments include; Improvements to the assessment and care planning processes. Improvements in managing medication and regular monitoring of this. All staff responsible for administering medication have received medication training. An activity organiser has been appointed and this person attends 5 days a week. A therapy room has been created to promote relaxation/calmness. There has been redecoration of the ground floor dining-rooms & lounges. Most of the residents bedrooms have been supplied with new furniture i.e. wardrobes, bedside cabinet chest of drawers. All bedrooms have been supplied with a new bed. Two large tvs have been purchased for each lounge. The home continues to let us know about things that have happened since our last key inspection and they have shown that they have managed issues well. After reviewing the afore mentioned information we have concluded that the service continues to provide good outcomes for the people who use it. What are we going to do as a result of this annual service review? Annual Service Review Page 3 of 5 We will continue with our inspection plan for this service. We will carry out a key inspection which will include a site visit to the home by 23/04/2010. We can inspect the service at any time if we have concerns about the quality of the service or the safety of the people using it. Annual Service Review Page 4 of 5 Reader Information
