This inspection was carried out on 28th September 2006.
CSCI has not published a star rating for this report, though using similar criteria we estimate that the report is Good. The way we rate inspection reports is consistent for all houses, though please be aware that this may be different from an official CSCI judgement.
The inspector made no statutory requirements on the home as a result of this inspection and there were no outstanding actions from the previous inspection report.

What the care home does well
Ensures that the service is resident-focused. Promotes an atmosphere of mutual respect. Involves and consults residents in the life of the home. Promotes residents` participation in their community. Supports residents to access social, leisure and educational opportunities. Provides a good range of in house activities. Supports residents to develop and maintain positive relationships with their friends and families. Provides a menu that meets residents` needs and promotes healthy eating. Provides good training for staff to enable them to do their jobs well. Promotes good teamwork and provides good support for staff.
What has improved since the last inspection?
The manager has completed NVQ level 4. Two staff have completed NVQ level 3 and two more staff have enrolled on this course. The deputy manager has begun to study towards NVQ level 4.
What the care home could do better:
It is recommended that the home obtain Criminal Records Bureau Disclosures for all new staff. Where previously issued Disclosures are accepted, a risk assessment should be in place to support this decision.
