Neither the manager nor the provider were available at the time of this random inspection, so it was not possible to check the personnel files to establish whether full recruitment checks are being carried out now. However, a telephone conversation with the proprietor and the improvement plan that was submitted to the Commission confirmed that this is the case. The staff spoken to during the random inspection stated that they are not receiving regular and formal one-to-one supervision sessions, although they did confirm that they are all currently in the process of having appraisals with the manager. The staff spoken to also confirmed that they have recently sent out some Quality Assurance questionnaires and are in the process of completing some themselves, which indicates that a formal quality assurance process is currently in progress. In the absence of the manager it was also not possible to confirm whether she has recommenced the Registered Managers Award.
