Annual Service Review Page 3 of 6 Service update since the last key inspection or annual service review: What did we do for this annual service review? We looked at all the information we received or asked for since the last key inspection. This included the annual quality assurance assessment (AQAA) which the provider sent us. The AQAA is a self assessment tool that focuses on how well outcomes are being met for people living Whiteacres. It also gave us some numerical information about the service and information about how the providers have managed any complaints. We also looked at the notifications the providers sent to us since the last key inspection. Notifications are a legal requirement and the providers send us a notification about any event that potentially affects the wellbeing of people living at Whiteacres. The previous key inspection and any other visits we have made to the service in the last twelve months and any information we have received from other organizations about Whiteacres. We also sent surveys out to three people living at Whiteacres and to three staff members. We spoke with the acting manager to check that we had all the information we required. What has this told us about the service? The provider sent us their AQAA when we asked for it. The AQAA was clear and comprehensive and gave us detailed information about the service and the improvements the providers have made or are working towards. The providers have kept us informed about any changes or incidents that have occurred at Whiteacres in the last twelve months and have responded professionally and appropriately at all times. The Care Quality Commission has received two complaints about Whiteacres since the last key inspection, we investigated one complaint along with social services and the complaint was not upheld. The providers investigated the second compliant and again this complaint was not upheld. The acting manager told us they had referred an incident to social services in line with safeguarding adults policies and procedures, this incident was investigated by social services. The acting manager has recently completed their Registered Managers Award and was in the process of applying to become the registered manager for the service with the Care Quality Commission. On the basis of the information we have looked at, our opinion is that Whiteacres resiential home is still providing a good service. What are we going to do as a result of this annual service review? We are not going to change our inspection plan and will carry out a key inspection by the 10th of July 2010. However, we can inspect the service at anytime if we have any concerns about the quality of the service or the safety of the people using it.
