Also see our care home review for Winthorpe Residential Home for more information

This inspection was carried out on 4th October 2006.

CSCI has not published a star rating for this report, though using similar criteria we estimate that the report is (sorry - unknown). The way we rate inspection reports is consistent for all houses, though please be aware that this may be different from an official CSCI judgement.

The inspector found no outstanding requirements from the previous inspection report, but made 2 statutory requirements (actions the home must comply with) as a result of this inspection.

What follows are excerpts from this inspection report. For more information read the full report on the next tab.

What the care home does well

Service users appeared to be well cared for in a number of ways - relationships between service users and staff again appeared close, service users again said that they liked the staff and said they were friendly, the food was still good and they could have an alternative if they wanted, they could go out when they wanted and they liked their rooms. The management organise annual holidays for service users which service users say they enjoy. Service users can help with domestic tasks if they wish e.g. washing up, shopping, making drinks, tidying their rooms etc, so as to ensure their independence is maintained. The home looked generally clean and tidy. The staff member spoken with generally knew what to do if abuse was suspected or alleged. Comment Cards from three health care professionals testified that a good service is provided to service users.

What has improved since the last inspection?

There is now a Training Programme in place to plan to increase the skill levels of staff and the Deputy Manager stated that a number of staff are to attend National Vocational Qualification training in the near future.
