What did we do for this annual service review? We looked at all the information that we have received or asked for since the last key inspection. This included: The Annual Quality Assessment Assurance (AQAA) that was sent to us by this service. The AQAA is a self-assessment that focuses on how well outcomes are being met for people using the service. Any surveys that have been returned to us from people using the service and from other people with an interest in the service. Information we have about how the service manages any complaints. What the management has told us about things that have happened in the service. These are called notifications and are a legal requirement. The previous key inspection and any results from visits that we may have made to the service in the past twelve months. Relevant information from other organisations. Any information from other people about the service. What has this told us about the service? The Manager/owner of this home has completed the AQAA, showing as much detail as she possibly can considering that there is only one resident who has lived with the Manager as part of her family for the past 18 years. There is information written that tells us this person has a full and active lifestyle with many and varied ways offered to be enjoyed. Trips to the cinema, pubs, restaurants and the seaside are just some mentioned. During the week days a day centre is attended with a job on one day per fortnight offering a varied and purposeful occupation. Support for ensuring personal and health care is maintained by encouraging shaving and running a bath at the correct temperature. Appointments are made and this person is taken to all necessary specialists. Medication is stored in a locked cabinet and clear records are kept of handling medication. We are told that regular contact and inclusion of the persons family takes place and decisions that are made with the resident include the family. The Manager takes the resident to visit his family every three weeks. There is a care plan that is reviewed and updated with risks appropriately assessed and monitored to ensure that life is led to the full. The family home is warm , comfortable and well maintained. Meals are provided with the family that is varied and well balanced. The Manager informs us that she does not intend to take any other residents but is happy to care for this one person while he is still happy to live there. We have not received any concerns, complaints or issues that would change our decision on the rating of this home.
