Annual Service Review Page 3 of 6 Service update since the last key inspection or annual service review: What did we do for this annual service review? We looked at all the information that we have received or asked for, since the last key inspection or annual service review. This included, The annual quality assurance assessment (AQAA) that was sent to us by the service. The AQAA is a self-assessment that focuses on how well outcomes are being met for people using the service. It also gave us some numerical information about the service. Surveys returned to us by people using the service and from other people with an interest in the service. We received five completed surveys from people living in the home. Information we have about how the service has managed any complaints. What the service has told us about things that have happened in the service. These are called notifications and are a legal requirement. The previous key inspection. Relevant information from other organisations. What other people have told us about the service. A telephone conversation with the Registered Manager for the service on 16/09/2009. What has this told us about the service? The home sent us their annual quality assurance assessment when we asked for it. It was clear and gave us all the information we asked for. We looked at the information provided by the registered manager and the surveys that were returned by people that use the service and their visitors. Our judgement is that the home is still providing good outcomes for the people that use the service and that the provider knows what further improvements need to be made. The manager lets us know about things that have happened and this demonstrates an open and transparent approach to the service provided. The information provided by the registered manager told us that the service has received two complaints within the last twelve months and that these were investigated within the services policies and procedures with satisfactory outcomes. We have not received any complaints regarding the service. The information provided by the registered manager told us that the views of the people using the service and their relatives are regularly sought. The completed surveys we received confirmed this. The information provided by the registered manager told us that the staff team are provided with both mandatory training and other training that is relevant to the needs of the people using the service. Annual Service Review Page 4 of 6 Comments we have received include They present a team of hard working, dedicated staff who remain diligent throughout their duty period. All the staff are very kind and competent. They always have time for us. The information provided by the registered manager and comments within the completed surveys confirmed that appropriate activities were provided and the quality of the food is of a good standard. My relative likes the food and it always looks nice. The homely atmosphere in the lounges is a bonus. We have always found the home to be welcoming and the staff polite, helpful and friendly. Exceptionally good and caring manager Information in the Annual Quality Assurance Assessment tells us that the proprietor and manager continue to work towards improving the services and facilities provided at Albemarle and that they actively seek feed back from people living at the service and their relatives. What are we going to do as a result of this annual service review? We are not going to change our inspection plan and will do a key inspection by the 16th September 2010. However we can inspect the service at any time if we have concerns about the quality of the service or the safety of the people using the service.
