Suni Chotai, CSCI Pharmacist visited the home on 18.3.09 at 11:15 a.m. to assess the medicine management in the home. We met with Sue Hale. We asked Sue if any changes had been implemented recently around medicines. Medicines were now stored in individual cupboards in peoples bedrooms. There also a policy of the month where one policy is taken to revise, review and perform a clinical governance. We then checked all the MAR charts for the current month. The sample signatures were available but this was not dated. There were no guidelines for medicines to be taken only when needed. For medicines that were self managed a risk assessment was available except for one resident who had recently started on a cream to be self managed. the doctor visits to see people in the home. The record keeping in the home is good. A Controlled drugs check found things to be in order.
