Annual Service Review Page 3 of 6 Service update since the last key inspection or annual service review: What did we do for this annual service review? We looked at all the information that we have received, or asked for since the last key inspection or annual service review. This included: The annual quality assurance assessment (AQAA) that was sent to us by the service. The AQAA is a self-assessment that focuses on how well outcomes are being met for people using the service. It also gave us some numerical information about the service. Surveys returned to us by people using the service and from other people with an interest in the service. Information we have about how the service has managed any complaints. What the service has told us about things that have happened in the service, these are called notifications and are a legal requirement. The previous key inspection and the results of any other visits that we have made to the service in the last 12 months. Relevant information from other organisations. What other people have told us about the service. What has this told us about the service? The service sent us their annual quality assurance assessment (AQAA) when we asked for it. It was clear and gave us the information we asked for, although more detail could have been included in some parts of the form. We looked at the information in the AQAA and our judgment is that the service is still providing a good service and that they know what further improvements they need to make. People using the service tell us that they are happy with the care they receive. We received comments from 4 service users. All continue to be satisfied with the care they receive, and particularly praised the staff and the care they receive as well as the food provided. Comments made included, All the carers are kind and helpful, without taking away my independence and I was very weak when I entered the hospice but with the excellent food and first class care I received from all of the staff I quickly regained my strength, which was remarked upon by my friends. We had 6 staff surveys returned and all spoke positively about the training and support they receive. Comments made by staff included, Help everyone who comes here to feel as they would in their own home, The home is very friendly caring place to be in, Food very well cooked, Clients can have what they want at any time and The job is Annual Service Review Page 4 of 6 very satisfying and rewarding. There have not been any complaints made to ourselves or the home in the last 12 months and there have not been any safeguarding referrals or investigations. The service continues to let us know about things that have happened since our last key inspection and they have shown that they have managed issues well. They work well with us and have shown us that their service continues to provide good outcomes for service users. What are we going to do as a result of this annual service review? The next inspection of this service will be based on the Fees and Frequency Regulations 2007 and the assessment of risk of the service. Further clarity will become evident as the new registration and inspection system under the Health and Social Care Act 2008 is confirmed.
