What did we do for this annual service review? We looked at all the information that we have received, or asked for, since the last key inspection was performed. This included: The Annual Quality Assurance Assessment (AQAA) that was sent to us by the service. The AQAA is a self assessment that focuses on how well outcomes are being met for service users. It also gave us some numerical information about the service. Two responses to the ten service user surveys and three responses to the five staff surveys which were returned to us prior to performing the Annual Service Review. Information we have about how the service has managed any complaints if applicable. What the service has told us about things that have happened in the service, these are called notifications and are a legal requirement. The previous key inspection and the results of any other visits that we have made to the service in the last 12 months. What other people have told us about the service. What has this told us about the service? The registered manager sent us their Annual Quality Assurance Assessment (AQAA) when we asked for it. It was clear and gave us all the information we asked for. We looked at the information in the AQAA and our judgement is that the home continues to provide a good service and that they know what further improvements they need to make. The Care Quality Commission has not received any concerns or complaints about the service in the last twelve months. One Safeguarding Adults investigation has been undertaken within the last 12 months and our records show that the Safeguarding Adults issue has been fully investigated and appropriate actions have been taken to safeguard the service users. Information provided within the service user surveys told us that service users receive enough information about the home before they moved in so they can make an informed choice as to the suitability of the service in meeting their needs. Both service users told us in the service users surveys that they know who to speak to if they were not happy but only one service user stated that they know how to make a formal complaint. We asked service users if staff are available when needed, both service users stated Always and both service users stated that staff always listen and act on what they say. Annual Service Review Page 4 of 6 The service users survey asked service users what the home does well, one service user commented, The staff at Beech house are excellent with the residents and visitors. The home is very clean, very warm and calm and The manager and staff seem to do most things very well, I am very satisfied. The Have your Say pre inspection questionnaire asked staff What does the home do well, comments included We care and look after residents and The home provides good quality of care by maintaining the privacy and dignity of service users. All three staff who responded to the pre inspection staff survey expressed concerns in relation to the current staffing in meeting the needs of service users although service users did not identify this as an issue of concern. The registered manager continues to let us know about things that have happened since our last key inspection and has shown she works well with us to provide good outcomes for the service users. What are we going to do as a result of this annual service review? The next inspection of this service will be based on the Fess and Frequency Regulations 2007 and the assessment of risk of the service. However we can inspect the service at any time if we have concerns about the quality of the service or the safety of the people using the service. Annual Service Review Page 5 of 6 Reader Information
