The home is owned by Mr. Mukesh Bouri and was first registered in August 1984. Belgrave House is located in the village of Terrington St John and is within walking distance of local shops and community facilities. The home has transport to enable access to larger local towns. The Home currently has twelve single bedrooms. Some bedrooms have ensuite
Annual Service Review Page 2 of 6 2 3 0 1 2 0 0 9 bathrooms whilst others have handbasins within the room. There are three lounges, dining room, kitchen, toilet and bathrooms. The laundry is situated on the first floor. The proprietor has recently completed the development of a hydrotherapy pool and sauna. Within the grounds of Belgrave House is a day care building which service users attend on a daily basis. This facility is solely for the use of people who live at Belgrave House. The grounds of Belgrave House are well maintained and have been landscaped to provide space for leisure and relaxation. Its situation offers pleasant views over the fenland landscape. What did we do for this annual service review? We looked at all the information that we have received, or asked for, since the last key inspection or annual service review. This included: The annual quality assurance assessment (AQAA) that was sent to us by the service. The AQAA is a self-assessment that focuses on how well outcomes are being met for people using the service. It also gave us some numerical information about the service. Information we have about how the service has managed any complaints. What the service has told us about things that have happened in the service, these are called notifications and are a legal requirement. The previous key inspection and the results of any other visits that we have made to the service in the last 12 months. Relevant information from other organisations. What other people have told us about the service. What has this told us about the service? The AQAA was returned to us in good time, and contained comprehensive information about the facilities and service provided to those living in the home. It provided information about the home, and details of staffing including training, together with changes that have been made in the home, and planned changes for the future. It also demonstrated how the service takes the views of the people living in the home into account in the decisions made, for example bathrooms have been converted into shower rooms, a new conservatory has been added and a patio area laid outside the television room, which has itself been redecorated. These changes have been introduced at the request of people living in the home, and they are encouraged to make their wishes known through care plan reviews, residents and relatives meetings and day to day conversation with management and staff. The AQAA indicates that the service maintains a flexible admission procedure although did not provide any further detail. Care plans in place for everyone living in the home, and include details about the persons social background as well as likes and dislikes. Information is provided to prospective residents and their families through the Statement of Purpose and Service User Guide. The service offers long term residential care, and at the time the AQAA was submitted had 7 residents, funded by mainly by Norfolk County Council . People who live in the home have access to a range of activities on a daily basis, both within the home and in the local community The AQAA showed that there have been no concerns complaints or safeguarding issues had in the past year, and confirmed that procedures remain in place should any issues Annual Service Review Page 4 of 6 arise, and that staff receive the required safeguarding training. Recruitment procedures ensure that all staff undertake the required checks to ensure that the residents of the home are not placed at risk, and these procedures are in accordance with the regulations. Improvements have been made since we last inspected the service, which have included a refurbished television lounge, refurbishment of resident bedrooms and bathrooms, a new conservatory and Patio area. The home continues to let us know about things that have happened since our last key inspection and they have shown that they have managed issues well. They work well with us and have shown us that their service continues to provide good outcomes for the people who use it. What are we going to do as a result of this annual service review? We are not going to change our inspection plan, and will do a key inspection by 22nd January 2012.
