Care Homes for Adults (18-65 years) Page 3 of 9 What we found: This visit to Boundary House took place to follow up the requirements set out at the last key inspection carried out on 24th August 2009. A tour of the new unit was undertaken, although this is currently not occupied, within the original unit several residents and staff were observed cooking and taking part in household duties. A short tour of the home was carried out showing that all of the requirements had been implemented such as changing the carpet in the lounge, extending the residents bedroom that had been made smaller with the inclusion of an en-suite facility. The risk to residents from building work had been eliminated due to the unit having been complete and the gardens had been landscaped and made safer. The laundry had been accommodated within the home rather than using an external shed. Staff training of medication had been updated and records were in place. The manager was to update her own adult protection training and this had been arranged for the following month. There was also the funding for staff who accompany residents out for meals to query, and the manager stated that the staff receive an allowance for extra curricular activities when accompanying residents outside of the environment. Their were several residents taking part in cooking and some laundry activities with support from staff on duty. Several were spoken to during this visit and no complaints or concerns were highlighted at the time. One resident said I enjoy making cakes and biscuits, and the best thing is eating them. Im going out later today, to get some shopping. One resident who had recently moved into the home said I really enjoy living here, the staff are my friends.
