Annual Service Review Page 4 of 7 Service update since the last key inspection or annual service review:
What did we do for this annual service review? We looked at all the information that we have received, or asked for, since the last key inspection or annual service review. This included: The annual quality assurance assessment (AQAA) that was sent to us by the service. The AQAA is a self assessment that focuses on how well outcomes are being met for people using the service. It also gave us some numerical information about the service. Surveys returned to us by people using the service and from other people with an interest in the service. Information we have about how the service has managed any complaints. What the service has told us about things that have happened in the service, these are called notifications and are a legal requirement. The report of the previous key inspection which took place on the 23rd February 2009. Relevant information from other organisations. What other people have told us about the service. What has this told us about the service? The home sent us their annual quality assurance assessment (AQAA) when we asked for it. It was clear and gave us all the information we asked for. We looked at the information in the AQAA and our judgement is that the home is still providing an excellent service. The AQAA included improvements made in the past twelve months along with planned improvements for the next twelve months. We sent surveys to people who have accessed the rehabilitation services provided by Brookside Court, and their relatives. Surveys told us that the service they received, or their relative received was managed well, and that the staff provided the care and support they needed. Surveys identified that individuals were unsure about how to make a complaint. Surveys contained additional comments as to what the service does well and what it could do to improve. Comments included:During my stay everything was done well. Cups and cutlery arent always clean. I was at Brookside for one month, I was cared for with kindness, these ladies could not do enough for you. I would recommend anyone for a stay at Brookside Court. Annual Service Review Page 5 of 7 Surveys asked people if there was anything else they wanted to tell us. One person wrote:I dont think people and hospitals know what a good job this home does for people, it should broadcast more. We sent surveys to staff who work at Brookside Court, but none were returned. The home continues to let us know about things that have happened since our last key inspection and they have shown that they have managed issues well. They work well with us and have shown us that their service continues to provide excellent outcomes for the people who use it. Information provided within the AQAA told us that the service has not received any complaints within the last twelve months, and we the Care Quality Commission have not received any complaints or concerns since the last Key Inspection, which took place on the 23rd February 2009. What are we going to do as a result of this annual service review? The next inspection of this service will be based on the Fees and Frequency Regulations 2007 and the risk level of the service. We will have more information about this when the new registration and inspection system in confirmed under the Health and Social Care Act 2008. However we can inspect the service at any time if we have concerns about the quality of the service or the safety of the people using the service. Annual Service Review Page 6 of 7 Reader Information
