Further information is available from the registered manager Annual Service Review Page 3 of 6 Service update since the last key inspection or annual service review: What did we do for this annual service review? We looked at all the information that we have received, or asked for, since the last key inspection. This included: The annual quality assurance assessment (AQAA) that was sent to us by the service. The AQAA is a self-assessment that focuses on how well outcomes are being met for people using the service. It also gave us some numerical information about the service. Surveys returned to us by people using the service and from other people with an interest in the service. Information we have about how the service has managed any complaints. What the service has told us about things that have happened in the service, these are called notifications and are a legal requirement. The previous key inspection and the results of any other visits that we have made to the service in the last 12 months. Relevant information from other organisations. What other people have told us about the service. What has this told us about the service? An annual quality assurance assessment (AQAA) was received on the 10th December 2009. This document was thorough and contained all the information we asked for including how the service promotes equality and diversity and how they offer value for money. The AQAA told us of improvements that have been made to the service in the last year. This includes the developement of a user friendly Statement of Purpose which includes larger text and picture symbols, more choices have been made available with regards to annual holidays, trips out and menu choices, personalised healthcare and support has continued and a number of staff have completed an NVQ qualifiation. It told us of how it had listened to the views of people using the service and working for the service and it also told us of the improvements planned for the next twelve months to further improve the service being provided. This includes improving the format of the Service User Guide to make it more assessible, ensuring that all the Person Centred Plans and goals & aspirations for the people living at the service have been implemented and to recruit additional suitably experienced and qualified support workers. The AQAA told us that the service had received one complaint in the previous twelve months. On speaking with the registered manager we were told that this had been fully investigated and appropriate actions taken to rectify the issue. Annual Service Review Page 4 of 6 We sent Have your Say surveys to ten people currently living at the service and five members of the staff team to gather their views of the service being provided. Three people currently living at the service had returned their surveys by the time this Annual Service Review was finalised. Information included in the surveys showed us that they could do what they wanted in their spare time, they knew how to make a complaint if they werent happy about something and they felt that the staff treated them well and listened to them. Comments included: They look after us well. I do lots of activities in my spare time. Some staff could be more approachable. I would like to do more cooking. They look after me when needed. I like the home as it is. One staff survey had been returned. Information included in the survey returned showed us that staff continue to receive training relevant to their role within the service and they continue to be supported by the management team. Comments received included: We make sure the residents are well looked after and all their needs are met The service continues to let us know about things that have happened since our last key inspection and they have shown that they have managed any issues well. They work well with us and have shown us that their service continues to provide good outcomes for the people who use it. What are we going to do as a result of this annual service review? The next inspection of this service will be based on the Fees and Frequency Regulations 2007 and the risk level of the service. We will have more information about this when the new registration and inspection system is confirmed under the Health and Social Care Act 2008.
