Care Homes for Adults (18-65 years) Page 3 of 8 What we found: We looked at all the information that we have received, or asked for, since the last Key inspection. This included: The annual quality assurance assessment (AQAA) that was sent to us by the service. The AQAA is a self-assessment form that focuses on how well outcomes are being met for people using the service. It also gave us some numerical information about the service. Information we have about how the service has managed any complaints. What the service has told us about things that have happened in the service, these are called notifications and are a legal requirement. The previous key inspection and the results of any other visits that we have made to the service in the last 12 months. Relevant information from other organisations. What other people have told us about the service. This was an unannounced visit to the home by one inspector on 16th June 2010 who was at the home from 10:30 until 14:30. During the visit we talked to people living in the home, visiting relatives, staff and the manager. We also looked round the building and looked at written records. The home sent us their annual quality assurance assessment (AQAA) when we asked for it. It was clear and gave us all the information we asked for. We looked at support plans and daily records, peoples meeting minutes, staff meeting minutes and menus. We observed preparations for the lunch meal. We had discussions with support staff and relatives who had come to visit. Each person has their own personal detailed weekly programme and rehabilitation plans which reflects their chosen activities in both home and out in the community. Activities ranged from, outings to the local pub, walks, sailing group, football club and luncheon club. In the surveys returned people said they are provided with opportunities to engage in a range of activities of daily living and leisure activities. Give me support and I am very pleased with the care given. Tailored clinical rehabilitation plan to meet specific needs and goals of service users. During our visit we looked closely at the care of three people. We could see that records are kept up to date and care plans are reviewed regularly. Risk assessments are being completed. The risk was clearly identified and there was a detailed care plan to tell staff how this risk should be managed. We saw staff approaching people kindly and respecting peoples choice. There seemed to be a good rapport between staff and the people living at the home. A quick tour of the building was carried out. The home was found to be clean and tidy and generally there were no odours. The home ensure all maintenance checks are undertaken and accompanied with Care Homes for Adults (18-65 years) Page 4 of 8 appropriate certificates.
