Annual Service Review Page 3 of 6 Service update since the last key inspection or annual service review: What did we do for this annual service review? We looked at all the information that we have received, or asked for, since the last key inspection. This included: * The annual quality assurance assessment (AQAA) that was sent to us by the service. The AQAA is a self-assessment that focuses on how well outcomes are being met for people using the service. It also gave us some numerical information about the service. * Surveys returned to us by people using the service and from other people with an interest in the service. * Information we have about how the service has managed any complaints. * What the service has told us about things that have happened in the service, these are called notifications and are a legal requirement. * The previous key inspection and the results of any other visits that we have made to the service in the last 12 months. * Relevant information from other organisations. What has this told us about the service? The home sent us their annual quality assurance assessment (self-assessment) when we asked for it. The self-assessment included some good information. It told us that the service is listening to people who use their service because there are Service users meetings, Service user and relatives surveys and 6 monthly service user reviews. The service also demonstrated that it is developing. Examples include: We are now in the process of initiating my health action plans which have been supplied by Suffolk County Council. More service users taking part in volunteer jobs in the community. Service users taking control of administration of their own medication. The service has been proactive in notifying us of events in the service and we feel that we are kept informed of any significant events at the home. The service tells us they have received 3 complaints in the last 12 months and that these were all investigated and responded to within 28 days. We are aware that this service has appropriately referred and responded to safeguarding matters. We sent a number of surveys to the home. At the point of writing this report we received 4 completed surveys. The surveys received were positive. Two relatives responded and were very satisfied with the service their relative received. One relative said The staff could not do more for our relative, she depends on them for all her needs. They are very kind when we visit. The care at Drummond Court is excellent. Our relative could not be in a better home - we do not want her to be any where else. Two health professionals were very complimentary about the service and responded positively to all our questions about assessments, care planning and access to health care. One General Medical Practitioner wrote Provides excellent, sensible and all round holistic care to the patients. The patients needs are clearly complex but the team work very hard to meet these. They should be congratulated. What are we going to do as a result of this annual service review? Annual Service Review Page 4 of 6 At the previous key inspection on 16th June 2008 we judged this was a good service. We do not believe anything significant has occurred to change our view, therefore we will continue to gather information about this service and keep to our schedule of inspection. We will complete a key inspection of this service by 30th June 2010. We believe that this service will address any issues that come to their attention.
