We looked at all the information we have asked for or received about the home, since the last inspection. This information included the Annual Quality Assurance Assessment (AQAA), sent by and returned to the Commission from the provider. The AQAA is a self-assessment that focuses on how well outcomes are being met for people using the service. It also provides some statistical information about the service. The information provided in the AQAA was also checked against the findings as set out in the last inspection report. What has this told us about the service? The provider returned the completed Annual Quality Assurance Assessment (AQAA) and we looked at the information provided. It was brief and gave very little information about the service. Some outcome areas were not completed. These included personal healthcare and support, environment, staffing, conduct and management of the home, brief summary and policies and documents. The other areas were poorly completed. In our judgement there was a lack of understanding of the purpose of the AQAA. As stated in the AQAA, there has been an issue with staff recruitment and have had to use agency staff at the care home. This has made it difficult to staff the home but have ensured the safety of the residents. Currently, the home does not have a registered manager. In view of the above, we have revised our opinion of the service and we will inform our inspection process and may inspect the service earlier. Spoke to one of the residents who said that he was being well supported by the staff team and that he was happy with his room that was spacious. He also said that he was happy to be living there. With regard to equality and diversity, the provider has stated in the AQAA that all staff receive training in Equality and Diversity. Should any of the residents need any support staff are able to approach outside agencies to access further support. All staff can access relevant training, consent and appropriate support for residents if required. What are we going to do as a result of this annual service review? As the AQAA was poorly completed and some areas not completed, we have informed the inspection process that we may inspect this service earlier. As with all care services, information will continue to be gathered over the intervening period. The homes performance will be subject to a process of continual assessment and evaluation in the light of any information received, with appropriate regulatory action being taken as indicated.
