What did we do for this annual service review? We looked at the annual quality assurance assessment (AQAA) that was sent to us by the service. The AQAA is a self-assessment that focuses on how well outcomes are being met for people using the service. It also gave us some numerical information about the service. We looked at surveys (two) completed by people who live in the home, they were completed with the assistance of staff. We checked what the service has told us about things that have happened in the service, these are called notifications and are a legal requirement. We looked at the previous key inspection report and the results of any other visits that we have made to the service in the last 12 months. We looked at relevant information from other organisations. We looked to see if other people have told us anything about the service. What has this told us about the service? The home sent us their annual quality assurance assessment (AQAA) when we asked for it. It was clear and gave us all the information we asked for. We looked at the information in the AQAA and our judgement is that the home is still providing an excellent service. The AQAA noted that there have been several developments, some as a result of listening to the views of the people who use the service. There have been developments in finding a person an advocate, assessing someone with their views taken into account, to be moved to a more suitable home and developing social skills sessions, with the support of the psychologist. Examples of how the home meets peoples equality and diversity needs are, providing individual plans of care, finding more suitable homes for people, if necessary and ensuring peoples individual social needs are met. We received two completed surveys from people who live in the home (there are currently three people in residence). These were mainly positive noting that the home does cooking well. There were also some comments which included the home could help me more and they could get me some more paperwork to do, these comments were not explained in any detail. The surveys also noted that neither person knew how to make a complaint and one said that staff sometimes treat him well. At the last inspection all the people who live in the home knew how to make a complaint and said that they were treated well, there have been no new admissions. The AQAA reported that some areas of the home have been refurbished and/or made more suitable such as wooden floors fitted, new cooker and hob and refurbished kitchen. Annual Service Review Page 4 of 6 The AQAA reported that all Polices and Procedures are current and have been reviewed during 2008 and 2009, as necessary. The home reported that no complaints have been received by them and there have been no safeguarding incidents or concerns. No information about complaints or safeguarding issues have been received by the Commission since the last inspection. What are we going to do as a result of this annual service review? We are not going to change our inspection plan, and will do a key inspection by the 11th December 2011. However we can inspect the service at any time if we have concerns about the quality of the service or the safety of the people using the service. Annual Service Review Page 5 of 6 Reader Information
