Gordon House is owned and managed by Community Integrated Care Registered Provider and is a single storey building which houses 20 service users with long term enduring mental health illness. The service has two Registered Managers who are both experienced psychiatric nurses. All service users have their own bedroom. Shared communal spaces include a well-maintained garden, lounge areas, kitchen and dining room. Service users are encouraged to maintain their independence and to follow a lifestyle in accordance with their own choices and preferences. Psychiatrists, general practitioners, community psychiatric nurses, social workers and family support the people living in the Gordon House. The service users are encouraged to take up paid jobs, attend day centres, or follow educational programmes. What the care home does well The manager had taken appropriate action to safeguard the people living at the home by reporting the safeguarding concern through to the Local Authority in line with the local procedures. The manager had also sought the advise of relevant professionals involved with the person`s care and support. Information on the needs of the person concerned had been documented and the manager was knowledgeable about the needs of the person concerned. The manager agreed to send us further information as to the outcomes of the safeguarding concern following our visit to the service. What the care home could do better: We focused the visit on the safeguarding concerns only and did not asssess any additional aspects of the service. Care Homes for Adults (18-65 years) Page 3 of 7 What we found: We carried out a visit to the home following receipt of information from Liverpool City Council safeguarding team. The information we received was about a safeguarding concern with regards to one of the people living at the home. We found that the manager had taken appropriate action in responding to the concerns raised. The manager had contacted relevant professionals to report the concerns and ensure they were looked in to. We looked at the the care plan, risk assessment and medication administration records maintained with regards to the person concerned. We also discussed the needs of the person with the registered manager of the service.
