We looked at all the information that we have received, or asked for, since the last key inspection on 24th February 2009. This included. The annual quality assurance assessment (AQAA) that was completed and sent to us by the service. The AQAA is a self assessment that focuses on how well outcomes are being met for those people who use the service. Feedback surveys returned to us by those using the service and from other people with an interest in the service. What the service has told us about things that have happened in the service, these are called notifications and are a legal requirement. What has this told us about the service? The home sent us their annual quality assurance assessment (AQAA) when we asked for it. We looked at the information in the AQAA, which gave us up to date information about the service and what action had been undertaken to make improvements at the home. This is a small family run home and the people who live there had done so for a very long time. It was noted that portable electrical appliances had not been checked. People had been to Bournemouth for a holiday. A lot of improvements had been made to the home. These included a new bathroom suite and the lounge, hall and stairway had been decorated. The support worker had completed NVQ Level 2 and both the manager and the support worker had attended a food hygiene course. They had also reviewed medication practices at the home. At our last key inspection visit the home received a good quality rating. We made two requirements. One requirement was about improving the way medication was given to people to ensure that medication was not mixed up. The other was to ensure that staff providing support undertake all the relevant training they need to support people, safely. Since our last key inspection we have not been made aware of any complaints, safeguarding alerts or been notified about any incidents happening at the home. We have not received any surveys from the home. What are we going to do as a result of this annual service review? Overall our opinion about the service has not changed. Our next key inspection or annual service review will take place before 23rd February 2011. However, we can inspect the service at any time if we have concerns about the quality of the service or the safety of the people using the service.
