Annual Service Review Page 3 of 6 Service update since the last key inspection or annual service review: What did we do for this annual service review? We looked at all the information that we have received since the last key inspection. This included: --The annual quality assurance assessment (AQAA) that was sent to us by the service. The AQAA is a self assessment conducted by the home that focuses on how well the service meets the needs of people living there. It also gave us some numerical information about the service. --Four surveys returned to us, from nineteen invited from people using the service and four surveys returned by carers, out of ten invited. --Information we have about how the service has managed any complaints. --What the service has told us about things that have happened in the service. These are called notifications and are a legal requirement. What has this told us about the service? The home sent us their annual quality assurance assessment (AQAA) when we asked for it. It was clear and gave us all the information we asked for. We looked at the information in the AQAA and our judgement is that the home is still providing a good service and that they know what further improvements they need to make. The requirements of the last inspection report have received attention. The Aqaa told us that all documentation has improved due to all files being computerised and risk assessments done regularly; the home offers a welcome pack of information for any prospective resident. People living in the home were asked their views. Each had been completed by a family member on the residents behalf. They commented positively about the care home, As far as I know they are looked after very well by capable and caring people. Another said, outstanding care by all the staff, patient and friendly, excellent meals, varied and appetising. Residents are treated individually and with great respect. Food and drink beautifully presented, and in abundance, attentiveness, support, the most incredibly friendly environment and respect for their residents and guests. Suggestions for improvement are more one to one time would be stimulating, more trips out would make a welcome break, and attention to hearing aids. Comments from staff were positive about the content of induction and level of training and the information and support they are given to enable them to meet individual needs. They told us they work well together as a team, the only expressed concerns being overrunning on their shift times, and being expected to divert from care duties to kitchen work at times. The home continues to let us know about things that have happened since our last key inspection. No complaints have been received. They work well with us and have shown Annual Service Review Page 4 of 6 us that their service continues to provide good outcomes for the people who use it. What are we going to do as a result of this annual service review? We are not going to change our inspection plan, and we will do a key inspection by 24 August 2010. However, we can inspect the service at any time if we have concerns about the quality of the service or the safety of the people using the service.
