Annual Service Review Page 3 of 6 Service update since the last key inspection or annual service review: What did we do for this annual service review? We looked at all the information that we have received, or asked for, since the last key inspection. This includes The annual quality assurance assessment (AQAA) that was sent to us by the service. The AQAA is a selfassessment that focuses on how well outcomes are being met for people using the service. It also gave us some numerical information about the service. Information we have about how the service has managed any complaints. What the service has told us about things that have happened in the service, these are called notificationsand are a legal requirement. The previous key inspection and the results of any other visits that we have made to the service in the last 12 months. Relevant information from other organisations. What other people have told us about the service. What has this told us about the service? The home sent us their annual quality assurance assessment (AQAA )when we asked for it. It was clear and gave us all the information we asked for. It had been completed by the manager of the service. We looked at the information in the AQAA and our judgement is that the home is still providing a good service. The AQAA indicated that the home works with the residents to decide how to improve the services offered, and a number of changes have been made following discussions with the residents. The home offered to purchase a TV for the lounge, the residents discussed this and chose not to have one so that they can sit and chat over coffee, and all residents have TV ariel sockets in their rooms. The home has incorporated the residents ideas with regard to the food and their shopping and menu planning. More open sandwiches are available for the evening meal, croissants are provided for breakfast occasionally, and once a month the evening meal is arranged with an activity, a buffet supper with a quiz or a cheese and wine evening. Service user surveys have shown that the residents are happy with the support they receive, comments included it is the best of its kind and we are very fortunate, excellent food, they do very well and the staff are very friendly and kind, I am very satisfied with this place and it is very clean. Annual Service Review Page 4 of 6 Staff surveys were equally positive, there is a low turnover of staff and a number have worked at the home for several years. Comments were it is a caring and friendly home for residents and staff, residents are well looked after and have their needs met, the manager is always available to help and support staff, and staff communicate very well. The last inspection recorded some requirements regarding the statement of purpose, care plans and employment procedures. The AQAA confirmed that these have been addressed. The home continues to let us know about things that have happened since our last inspection. They work well with us and have shown us that their service continues to provide good outcomes for the people who use it. What are we going to do as a result of this annual service review? We are not going to change our inspection plan, and will do a key unannounced inspection by 7th March 2011. However we can inspect the service at any time if we have concerns about the quality of the service or the safety of the people using the service.
