Annual Service Review Page 3 of 6 Service update since the last key inspection or annual service review: What did we do for this annual service review? We looked at all the information that we have received or asked for since the last key inspection. This included: The Annual Quality Assessment Assurance (AQAA) that was sent to us by this service. The AQAA is a self-assessment that focuses on how well outcomes are being met for people using the service. Any surveys that have been returned to us from people using the service and from other people with an interest in the service. Information we have about how the service manages any complaints. What the management has told us about things that have happened in the service. These are called notifications and are a legal requirement. The previous key inspection and any results from visits that we may have made to the service in the past twelve months. Relevant information from other organisations. Any information from other people about the service. What has this told us about the service? The AQAA for this home was sent in to us when requested. It has been completed by the Manager very comprehensively, giving a clear picture of the way this home is managed and the individual support offered to residents in a way that is chosen by themselves. Views of the residents are taken daily with wishes, needs and aspirations are set out in the residents care plan. Residents also take an active role in the running of the house as they see it as my house. For example any potential new staff member would be seen and commented on by the residents before official interviews and recruitment takes place, but as the team is a very settled long standing team no new staff have been recruited in the past twelve months. All residents have support for their health care and healthy lifestyles. Diabetics are encouraged with a correct diet. Comments from resident are noted in the surveys received at the commission on how good the food is. The Manager tells us and it was observed at the last key inspection how healthy options on the menu is encouraged. The home also offer a healthy tuck shop facility to help the residents who were buying large amounts of unhealthy snacks from the local tescos to purchase more suitable food. The facilities available is tailored to the individual persons need. Professionals from both social and health have returned surveys stating this is an excellent home, residents are encouraged to learn how to be independent and I have been visiting for many years and cannot fault the care practice of Klaire House. Last year this home completed a full refurbishment of the premises which was commented on in the last inspection report. Each change in the home has been made to a very high specification and comments from the residents state how much they value their home. Annual Service Review Page 4 of 6 The AQAA and the staff comments in the surveys received tell us that the training and support given to enable them to carry out their duties fully is available. Specialist training is given alongside the statutory training for health and safety. There is an excellent ratio of staff who are NVQ 2 qualified with some staff working towards NVQ 3. The Manager is highly qualified, experienced person who is rated highly by the staff team and residents. Health and safety is taken seriously with all staff aware of the policies and procedures to follow. It was noted on the AQAA that the safety certificates were up to date bar one that was completed in April 2007 and is due for renewal. In total 19 surveys have been received. 2 from professional, 7 from staff and 10 from residents. All the tick box questions were answered positively with no negative comments from anyone. Examples being:Excellent service that is flexible in meeting the residents needs by supporting and encouraging them to develop their independence skills and this is a good home, received from outside professionals. I have worked in care for 25 years and this is the best home to date. Excellent management and Residents are supported to do what they wish, received from staff. It provides the greatest care and I am well looked after. Good staff, excellent food, nice journeys out, very nice bedroom, good friendship with other residents. Best place I have ever lived in where they treat us like individuals. The Commission has not received any complaints from the home and the residents surveys state they know how to complain if they needed to. No concerns or notifications have been received and there has been no safeguarding concerns. What are we going to do as a result of this annual service review? We will continue to carry out an Inspection by 10/01/11. However, we may carry out an Inspection at any time if information received gives us concern.
