Annual Service Review Page 3 of 6 Service update since the last key inspection or annual service review: What did we do for this annual service review? We looked at the information that we have received, or asked for, since the last key inspection. This included: * The annual quality assurance assessment (AQAA) that was completed and sent to us by the service. The AQAA is a self assessment that focuses on how well outcomes are being met for those people who use the service. * Feedback surveys returned to us by those using the service or from other people with an interest in the service. * Information we have about how the service manages any complaints. * What the service has told us about thisngs that have happened in the service: these are called notifications and are a legal requirement. * The previous key inspection report. * What people have told us about the service. What has this told us about the service? The manager was sent the annual quality assurance assessment (AQAA), and returned the completed document by the date we asked for it. The information provided a good description of the work that has taken place over the last 12 months, and the services plans for future development. The manager told us that improvements made include the way staff treat residents with dignity and respect. The homes recently carried out quality assurance survey reflected this. The service continues to work closely with colleagues in health and social care. The manager told us; We have opened our networks such as Age Concern, Wildlife Trust, Methodist church, and will continue to reach out to other local services and communities. We are listening to our customers and are getting feedback from questionnaires, reviews, verbal communication that we are offering a good service. We have accepted new referrals incrementally and only when adequate staffing levels have allowed us to safely do so. Staff told us that The home provides a good service but felt that at times, more staff would enable people to go out more for day trips and to go shopping. The self assessment shows that the manager recognises this. She told us, We need to further enhance our social activities programme by encouraging staff involvement and seek out any new iniatives or funding. The information we have indicates that the service continues to provide good outcomes for people who use it, and the manager continues to identify and implement Annual Service Review Page 4 of 6 improvements. What are we going to do as a result of this annual service review? We will continue to monitor information about this service and will carry out an inspection when required Annual Service Review Page 5 of 6 Reader Information Document Purpose: Author: Audience: Further copies from: Annual service review CQC General Public 0870 240 7535 (national contact centre) Our duty to regulate social care services is set out in the Care Standards Act 2000.
