We visited the home because someone had raised concerns about certain aspects of the environment. We looked at the seating for each person in the home. We found that each person living there has a seat. Seating is in a state of good repair and we were told by the manager that new seating has recently been purchased for people to use. We also looked at the seating arrangements in the dining room and found them to be satisfactory. The manager told us that the chairs in the dining room had recently been recovered. We were told that a metal pole was protruding out of the wall in the dining room. We could not find any metal pole protruding out of the wall, we did however see the bracket for the fire extinguisher was exposed. The manager told us that the fire extinguisher had recently been discharged and was waiting to be fixed to the bracket again. She also told us both the bracket and fire extinguisher are likley to be re sited to prevent the extinguishers being discharged accidentally again. We were told that people may be in danger when the lift is in use. We could find no evidence that this was the case. We looked at accident records and spoke to staff. The home also has up to date records of the servicing for the lift and it is in satisfactory working order.
