What did we do for this annual service review? We looked at all the information that we have received, or asked for since the last key Inspection. This included: - The Annual Quality Assurance Assessment (AQAA), which was sent to us by the service. This is a self assessment that focuses on how well the outcomes are being met for people using the service. - What the service has told us about the things that have happened in the service, these are called notifications and are a legal requirement. - A telephone call to the manager to find out about any further improvements or issues since the AQAA was submitted. - We sent surveys to 10 people who live at the home to find out their views on what it is like to use the service. - We sent 2 surveys to professionals who work with this service. - We sent surveys to 5 staff to get their views about the service. What has this told us about the service? We looked at the information provided on the Annual Quality Assurance Assessment (AQAA). This had been completed by the manager and told us how the peoples needs are being met. The AQAA told us that some improvements have been made in the last 12 months including: Several new pieces of equipment have been purchased including fireguards for bedroom doors, a new fire alarm system, a stand up hoist, electronic chair scales, 2 blood pressure monitors, lockable facilities in bedrooms, foam hand sanitisers in the entrance halls, bathrooms and toilets and a new key pad system fitted. Improvements to the environment have also been made in that some bedrooms and bathrooms have been refurbished, new dining room tables and chairs have been purchased, a new drive way has been laid and the main hallway has been redecorated. The manager told us that she is completing an NVQ IV in management and has attended training on train the trainer and pandemics. There are now 4 senior carers instead of 3 and 2 new relief staff have been employed to cover annual leave and sickness. Staff have attended training courses on equality and diversity, reminiscence, customer care, Mental Capacity Act, adult safeguarding, first aid, supervision and appraisal, diabetes and dementia care. Staff have also completed a training course on infection control through Grantham College. The care plan system has been reviewed and personal profiles have been written on each resident. A new activity co-ordinator who works 5 days a week has organised Annual Service Review Page 4 of 6 some outings and the home has access to the Lions minibus. Fund raising events have raised money in order to pay for new activities and events. Activity boxes have been put together for each resident. We received some comments from the service users who said The home does everything well. Im very happy, good food. There are too many magpies. They could monitor residents bad behaviour better but Im happy to be here. The staff make the beds well. Its difficult to find activities to cover the spectrum of residents. The house is beautiful. The staff listen to the needs and are happy and give good support. Comments from staff included Frampton House gives excellent care to the residents at all times. I have worked in lots of care homes and this is about the best. The home provides great food and deals with individuals needs well. We could have a better understanding of dementia, we are trained but the training is limited in availability. Comments from health care professionals who work with the service include they provide training for the carers and activities and days out for the residents. Senior carers are very knowledgeable and know when to report problems. Carers dont rush people when feeding them but they could benefit from having more carers on duty at times. The manager reported that six complaints have been received in the past 12 months. All were resolved within 28 days and none were upheld. CQC has not received any complaints about this service. There has been one adult safeguarding investigation where the manager took immediate action to follow the Adult Safeguarding procedure to protect the people who live there. As far as we know, the home continues to let us know about things that have happened since our last key inspection and they have shown that they have managed issues well. The service continues to operate well and has shown us that their service continues to provide good outcomes for the people who live there. What are we going to do as a result of this annual service review? The information we have tells us that this service continues to provide good outcomes for the people who live there. We are not going to change our inspection plan as there is nothing to currently indicate that an inspection is required in the immediate future. The next inspection of this service will be based on the Fees and Frequency Regulations (2007) and the assessment of risk. Annual Service Review Page 5 of 6 Reader Information
