What did we do for this annual service review? We looked at all the information that we have received, or asked for, since the last key inspection on 7th November 2008. This included: The Annual Quality Assurance Assessment (AQAA) that was requested and had been sent to us by the service at the time of this Annual Service Review. The AQAA is a self-assessment that tells us how well outcomes are being met for people using the service. It also gives us some numerical information about the service. The results from the surveys that we sent to the residents, families and the staff at Lingdale Lodge. Information we have about how the service has managed any complaints. What the service has told us about things that have happened in the home, these are called notifications and are a legal requirement. The previous key inspection and the results of any other visits that we have made to the service in the last 12 months. Relevant information which we may have received from other organisations such as social services. What other people have told us about the service either as complaints or compliments. What has this told us about the service? The home has sent us their annual quality assurance assessment [AQAA] that we asked for. They tell us that they have responded to the residents in making improvements to the home. They tell us that they have an ongoing programme of refurbishment in the home. The recommended level for staff achieving or in the process of completing a National Vocational Award [NVQ] at level 2 or above has been exceeded and that there is on going training happening. This gives the residents and their families confidence that the home is providing staff that are trained to look after them well. People who returned the surveys were very positive to the questions, with all of them telling us that they always or usually, have all the information that they need, that they receive the care and support that they need, that there are enough activities. They tell us that the home is always fresh and clean, that they know how to make a complaint and that the meals are good. The comments we received included: All the carers are nice, the home is well run and dignity is of the highest standard. She is very happy and likes to stay with her small group of friends. Annual Service Review Page 4 of 6 very good home, no complaints, the staff and manager are very helpful and kind. I think the staff could be trained more to understand Alzheimers. The home meets my wifes needs. The home regularly lets us know about things that have happened since our last key inspection and they have shown that they have managed issues as they should do. Neither the home or the Care Quality Commission have received any complaints in the last year. They work well with us and have shown us that their service continues to provide good outcomes for the people who use it. What are we going to do as a result of this annual service review? We are not going to change our inspection plan, and will do an inspection by November 2011. However we can inspect the service at any time if we have concerns about the quality of the service or the safety of the people using the service. Annual Service Review Page 5 of 6 Reader Information
