Annual Service Review Page 3 of 6 Service update since the last key inspection or annual service review: What did we do for this annual service review? We looked at all the information that we have received, or asked for, since the last key inspection which was undertaken on 2nd May 2008 this included: The annual quality assurance assessment (AQAA) that was sent to us by the service. The AQAA is a self-assessment that focuses on how well outcomes are being met for people using the service. It also gave us some numerical information about the service. Surveys returned to us by people using the service and from other people with an interest in the service. Information we have about how the service has managed any complaints. What the service has told us about things that have happened in the service, these are called notifications and are a legal requirement. The previous key inspection and the results of any other visits that we have made to the service in the last 12 months. Relevant information from other organisations. What other people have told us about the service. What has this told us about the service? The service sent us their annual quality assurance assessment (AQAA) when we asked for it. It was completed in satisfactory detail and gave us all the information we asked for. We looked at the information in the AQAA and our judgment is that the service is still providing a good service and that they know what further improvements they need to make. We sent out surveys to people, their relatives and the staff team. We received 5 surveys from people that live in this service. The feedback demonstrated that people were more than satisfied with the service they received. Some of the comments we received include: The staff understand my needs, and do all they can to make me comfortable. The home is run very professionally, and the staff work very hard and are very caring We have access to really good activities, the food is excellent, and the home is always clean. I am very happy here everything is done to a good standard. We received three surveys from relatives and the feedback was positive. Some comments made include: The staff are very caring, the home is very clean and well run. The activities are varied, frequent and excellent. My relative is in a safe caring environment Annual Service Review Page 4 of 6 The service is very good and very well planned, we cannot fault it. We received one staff survey and the feedback provided demonstrated that the staff team, have access to training and support to enable them to fulfill their roles. Comments were made about how the service could be improved and these include; for a call button to be located in the garden to enable people to access this area, and to alert staff when support was required by individuals. Additional staffing during peak times of the day, and for a laundry person to be employed. The information provided in the AQAA told us that all people are assessed before they move into this service so that people can be assured their needs can be met. The service completes a number of risk assessments in order to ascertain what peoples needs are and to monitor any risks identified. They told us each person has a detailed a care plan which is regularly reviewed to ensure it reflects peoples current needs. They told us their recruitment procedure is thorough and is based on equal opportunities and the protection of people who live in the home. The service continues to let us know about things that have happened since our last key inspection and they have shown that they have managed issues well. They work well with us and have shown us that their service continues to provide good outcomes for the people who use it. What are we going to do as a result of this annual service review? We are not going to change our inspection plan, and will do a key inspection by 1st May 2010. However we can inspect the service at any time if we have concerns about the quality of the service or the safety of the people using the service.
