None Annual Service Review Page 3 of 6 Service update since the last key inspection or annual service review: What did we do for this annual service review? We looked at all the information that we have received, or asked for, since the last key inspection on 18th October 2007 and the last Annual Service Review on the 14th August 2008. This included: The Annual Quality Assurance Assessment (AQAA) that was requested and had been sent to us by the service at the time of this Annual Service Review. The AQAA is a self-assessment that tells us how well outcomes are being met for people using the service. It also gives us some numerical information about the service. At the time of this ASR we had not received back any of the surveys, that we sent, to people using the service or from other people with an interest in the service, such as the residents families or the staff. If we receive these back, any relevant information will be sent to the manager. Information we have about how the service has managed any complaints. What the service has told us about things that have happened in the home, these are called notifications and are a legal requirement. The previous key inspection and the results of any other visits that we have made to the service in the last 12 months. Relevant information which we may have received from other organisations such as social services. What other people have told us about the service either as complaints or compliments. What has this told us about the service? The home has sent us their annual quality assurance assessment [AQAA] that we asked for. They tell us that they have responded to the residents as to how they do their menu planning and respond to residents if they wish to change their rooms when they can. They tell us that they have replaced the carpet in the lounge and on the stairs and are redecorating the bedrooms where they can. The recommended level for staff achieving or in the process of completing a National Vocational Award [NVQ] at level 2 or above has been exceeded and that there is on going training in care planning and in staff attending the alerters and referrers training for safe guarding the residents from abuse. This gives the residents and their families confidence that the home is providing staff that are trained to look after them well. People living in the home have previously told us that they enjoy living there. They told us that they are happy with the environment that they live in, the activities that are arranged, the choice of meals that they have and the care that the staff give. The AQAA tells us that the home is continuing with involving the residents with the community with them attending the local church, attending fetes and coffee mornings. We have not had surveys returned to us on this occasion and will add to this report if Annual Service Review Page 4 of 6 the findings are different than we have previously found. The home regularly lets us know about things that have happened since our last key inspection and they have shown that they have managed issues as they should do. They have not received any complaints in the last year, but there has been one incident investigated by the social services which was found not to be proved. They work well with us and have shown us that their service continues to provide good outcomes for the people who use it. What are we going to do as a result of this annual service review? We are not going to change our inspection plan, and will do an inspection by 17th October 2011. However we can inspect the service at any time if we have concerns about the quality of the service or the safety of the people using the service.
