Annual Service Review Page 2 of 6 Annual Service Review Page 3 of 6 Service update since the last key inspection or annual service review: What did we do for this annual service review? We looked at the information we have received, or asked for, since the last key or main inspection on 7th July 2008 when we decided that the quality rating for the home was two stars. The information we considered includes a self assessment sent to us by the manager about how well she thinks peoples needs are being met at the home. We also asked people living and working there, and a family doctor who visits, to complete surveys about the home. We checked whether there have been any complaints, and looked at the information we have concerning things happening at the home which staff or the manager have told us about. What has this told us about the service? The home sent us their annual quality assurance assessment (AQAA) when we asked for it. It was clear and gave us all the information we asked for. We looked at the information in the AQAA and our judgement is that the home is still providing a good service, that some improvements have been made, and that they know what further improvements they need and want to make. The AQAA makes clear that training for staff is very important at the home. People living at the home tell us they are happy there. We received the following comments: I like living Mulberry House, I am happy, I like my room; Like staff, nice; I like living here. Going college, Happy all staff. People make decisions about their lives and enjoy what they do: Take us out, Luton, walk, farm minibus, seaside, Picnic, chicken, chips, I enjoy meals. People know what to do if they are unhappy. A resident wrote Talk Wendy, write it down. A family doctor told us that staff respond to peoples needs well, and they call for advice promptly when necessary. Staff like working at the home and told us: I am very proud of Mulberry House and the clients. Their families are very supportive and often say how happy and settled clients are at Mulberry; We have a hands on manager who is accessible. The home continues to let us know about things that have happened since our last key or main inspection, and they have shown that they have managed issues well. They work well with us and have shown us that their service continues to provide good outcomes for the people who use it. What are we going to do as a result of this annual service review? We are not going to change our inspection plan, and will do a key inspection by 7th July 2010. However we can inspect the home at any time if we have concerns about the quality of the service or the safety of people living there.
