The annual service review for the Parade Rest Home included the following : The last key inspection was undertaken on 12/12/08 when it received the quality rating of 2*. The person in charge was asked to complete an Annual Quality Assurance Assessment (AQAA) by us. The AQAA is a self-assessment and Data set, which providers are asked to complete each year and is one of the main ways that we can obtain information about how they are meeting the outcomes for people using the service. Completion of the AQAA gives providers the opportunity to tell us about their service and how well they think they are performing. This information allows us to develop a picture of the service being provided and target our inspection activity. Surveys were returned to us by people living in the home, giving us their views about what it is like living at the Parade Rest home. What the manager has told us about things that have happened in the home, these are called notifications and are a legal requirement. Information from previous inspections and any information received from organisations since the last inspection. What has this told us about the service? The manager of the Parade Rest Home completed the AQAA and sent it to us. The information provided was clear and showed us how the service was meeting the expectations and outcomes for people living at the home. The AQAA was detailed, clear and included what they did well and how they could improve the service. Although we only received a small number of surveys from people who live at the Parade Rest Home asking them for their views on how the home is run, the responses were positive and they included, They look after me well, And, I have been a resident at the Parade for nearly 18 years and I feel I am well looked after. Evidence from the previous inspections, information supplied to us by the manager over the past year, what the manager tells us in the AQAA and comments from surveys returned, confirm equality and diversity issues are promoted within the home through discussion and formal training. This is to ensure residents are treated with dignity, respect and as an individual. One survey returned from a person who lives at the home said, They are caring staff. As this is a family run home the admission procedure is relaxed and priority made to the potential resident and family to ensure they feel at home from the start. The manager tells us in the AQAA written information is provided for each resident and family to ensure they receive the right information about the home and can make an Annual Service Review Page 4 of 6 informed choice. The admission procedure is clear and people who come to live at the home are assessed by the manager, to ensure they get a clear picture of each persons capabilities. Comments we received from people who live at the home and information provided in the AQAA about the quality of food were very good. The manager tells us in the AQAA, they provide good wholesome food and residents likes and dislikes are recorded to ensure people receive a nutritious diet and food they like. One person who lives at the home said, The food is home made and wonderful. Another resident wrote in a survey, Good food. Improvements have been made to the inside of the building to ensure the comfort and safety of the people who live at the home is maintained. The manager informs us in the AQAA redecoration to the kitchen area has been completed. Further plans to improve the outside areas of the home are on the agenda for the next twelve months. One person who lives at the home wrote Its a nice home. Since the last inspection the manager has kept us informed of any issues that have happened and how they have been dealt with. The manager and staff continue to provide a good service to people who live at the home and improve outcomes for everyone at the Parade Rest Home. What are we going to do as a result of this annual service review? We will continue to monitor information about this service and will carry out an inspection when required.
