What did we do for this annual service review? We looked at all the information that we have received, or asked for, since the last key inspection or annual service review. This included: The annual quality assurance assessment (AQAA) that was sent to us by the service. The AQAA is a self-assessment that focuses on how well outcomes are being met for people using the service. It also gave us some numerical information about the service. Information we have about how the service has managed any complaints. What the service has told us about things that have happened in the service, these are called notifications and are a legal requirement. The previous key inspection and the results of any other visits that we have made to the service in the last 12 months. Relevant information from other organisations. What other people have told us about the service What has this told us about the service? The home sent us their annual quality assurance assessment (AQAA) when we asked for it. It was clear and gave us detailed information about how the home has developed over the last twelve months. We looked at the information in the AQAA and our judgement is that the home is still providing an excellent service to the people who live at the Perrywood House and is seeking to continually develop the service further. For example the AQAA details that the home has actioned various improvements suggested by the people who live at the home through their Your Voice quality group. We made two recommendations following our last visit to Perrywood House. One concerned the safe storage of medication, with particular reference to controlled drugs. The AQAA does not fully detail whether this recommendation has been met but does state that Medication is managed efficiently. The other recommendation concerned ensuring that assessments of peoples consent to having sexual relationships had been documented. The AQAA does not tell us whether this has been done but does detail how the home have introduced Essential lifestyle plans that cover peoples needs and aspirations in all aspects of their lives. The AQAA states that the home has not received any complaints since the last inspection and has made one alert to the Local Authority under the locally agreed Safeguarding Adults procedure. The AQAA tells us that staff turnover at Perrywood House is very low with none of the care staff leaving in the previous twelve months. This helps to ensure that people Annual Service Review Page 4 of 6 receive consistent support from staff who are familiar with their needs and preferences. The home continues to let us know about things that have happened since our last key inspection and they have shown that they have managed issues well. They work well with us and have shown us that their service continues to provide good outcomes for the people who use it. What are we going to do as a result of this annual service review? We are not going to change our inspection plan, and will do a key inspection by 7th October, 2011. However we can inspect the service at any time if we have concerns about the quality of the service or the safety of the people using the service. Annual Service Review Page 5 of 6 Reader Information
