The home has a service user guide that provides information about the home, and which is available to service users and visitors. Annual Service Review Page 3 of 6 Service update since the last key inspection or annual service review: What did we do for this annual service review? We looked at all the information that we had received, or asked for, since the last key inspection. This included: the Annual Quality Assurance Assessment (AQAA) that was sent to us by the service. The AQAA is a self-assessment that focuses on how well outcomes are being met for people using the service. It also provided us with some numerical information about the service. Surveys were sent by us to people using the service and to other people with an interest in the service. What the service has told us about things that have happened in the service, these are called notifications and are a legal requirement. The previous key inspection and the results of any other visits that we have made to the service in the past 12 months. Any relevant information from other organisations. What has this told us about the service? The manager sent us their annual quality assurance assessment (AQAA) when we asked for it. The AQAA was well completed and provided us with ample information about what they do well and how they have improved in the past 12 months and their plans for improvement in the next 12 months. At the last inspection on the 25th March 2009 all of the outcome groups relating to this type of service were judged to be good. Overall the home was judged to provide good outcomes to the people using the service. No statutory requirements and no good practice recommendations were made following that inspection. In the past year there have been no referrals made to the local authority under their safeguarding procedures. We have not received and are not aware of any concerns or complaints about this service since the last key inspection. At the time of considering information for this Annual Service review we had received three completed surveys from people using the service, all of which had been completed by people independently. We also received completed surveys from three members of the care team. Comments received in the surveys from service users included The staff are very friendly The food is nice and It is like living in a five star hotel. The comments in the surveys completed by staff were positive about the care provided by the service. Comments included We have access to good training and I am always provided with up to date information about the people I support. Staff were positive about the support that they receive from one another and from the management team. All of the staff who completed our survey spoke of the positive teamwork that takes place at Rawlings House. One member of staff wrote The Annual Service Review Page 4 of 6 Rawlings care home and staff are star quality, and the service users are happy and well cared for. Everything is in place. I could not suggest for more. These responses support our judgment that overall the home continues to provide good quality outcomes for the people using the service. What are we going to do as a result of this annual service review? We are not going to change our inspection plan and will carry out an inspection of the service in line with our statutory responsibilities. However, we can inspect the service at any time if we have concerns about the quality of the service or the safety of the people using the service.
