What did we do for this annual service review? We looked at the previous Key Inspection Report and information that we have received or asked for from the service since the last Key Inspection. This included: The Annual Quality Assurance Assessment (AQAA) that was sent to us by the service. The AQAA is a self-assessment that focuses on how well outcomes are being met for people using the service. It also gives us some numerical information about the service. Because of their disabilities the people who live at Forest Road are unable to complete our service users surveys. We did send out surveys to five staff members who support the people living in the home and all five staff members responded. The information that they gave us is included in this report. We did not receive any responses to our surveys sent to outside professionals and relatives. What has this told us about the service? The Annual Quality Assurance Assessment was returned to the Commission on time and was completed to a high standard. It gave us lots of information about how people are supported at 38 Forest Road and the kind of training that staff receive to enable them to support people effectively. All five staff members who responded to our survey said that their induction covered what they needed to know very well. They said that they continue to receive training that is relevant to their role, helps them to meet peoples individual needs and keeps them up to date with new ways of working. Staff also receive specific training in health action planning, food and nutrition and in medication administration. This helps them to meet the health needs of people living in the home. The AQAA also informed us that service users are encouraged to carry out physical activity to keep their weight stable and promote a healthy heart and mental well being. All five staff members said that they were well supported by their manager and that systems in place for sharing information about the people living in the home work well. What are we going to do as a result of this annual service review? We are not going to change our inspection plan, and will do a key inspection by 08/12/11. However we can inspect the service at any time if we have concerns about the quality of the service or the safety of the people using the service. Annual Service Review Page 4 of 5 Reader Information
