What did we do for this annual service review? We looked at all the information that we have received, or asked for, since the last key inspection or annual service review. This included: The annual quality assurance assessment (AQAA) that was sent to us by the service. The AQAA is a self-assessment that focuses on how well outcomes are being met for people using the service. It also gave us some numerical information about the service. Surveys returned to us by people using the service and from other people with an interest in the service. We sent out surveys to 6 service users and all were returned. We sent surveys to 5 staff and received 4 back. nformation we have about how the service has managed any complaints. What the service has told us about things that have happened in the service, these are called notifications and are a legal requirement. The previous key inspection which took place on 8th January 2009. What has this told us about the service? The Annual Quality Assurance Assessment was returned to us in a timely manner. We were told that a system to consult with residents and take account of their views was in place. We are given examples of where residents have been consulted, offered choices and actively been involved in choosing to live at the home. The Annual Quality Assurance Assessment told us the home is committed to training its staff and gave information on how all previously listed requirements had been met. The service users surveys told us that the home was friendly, the home was always clean, food is good with pleasant staff and a family environment. One resident told us the home allowed them to feel more relaxed and be part of a family. Another resident told us they were looked after properly at the home. The surveys indicated to us that residents felt able to decide how they spent their time and knew how to raise any concerns they had. The staff told us on the surveys that the home promoted residents independence and offered a clean and homely environment. Staff told us they received training and were given opportunities to develop. One area for potential development three staff told us about was promotion of residentspersonal skills in areas such as life skills and computers. The Annual Quality Assurance Assessment recorded 1 complaints being received which was referred to the home by the Care Quality Commission for the Provider to investigate. A timely response was received and the concerns were considered to have been satisfactorily investigated. The home has not had any safeguarding adult Annual Service Review Page 4 of 6 concerns or made any referrals. What are we going to do as a result of this annual service review? We are not going to change our inspection plan, and will do a key inspection by 7th January 2011. However we can inspect the service at any time if we have concerns about the quality of the service or the safety of the people using the service. Annual Service Review Page 5 of 6 Reader Information
