We carried out this unannounced visit to the home due to concerns being raised with us. The concerns being that night staff are instructed to get residents up early in the morning, that night staff have to administer medication before the time it should be given and that residents receive minimal care due to having to undertake domestic duties and completing of records. A concern was also raised that the registered manager is not present in the home on a regular basis. We arrived at the home at 7.30am. We spent time talking to night and day staff, and observed their interactions with people living at the home. In addition to this we looked at staff rotas, care records for one resident, induction and training records for two staff and the minuites of two staff meetings. At the end of this visit we gave feedback to the registered manager with regard to the concerns raised and our findings, informing her we could find no evidence to substantiate the concerns. We did tell her that she should record the hours she spends at the home, as currently she does not do this all the time. She agreed to do this. At the last key inspection of a requirement was made to ensure all new staff receive an induction and training suitable to be competent to do their job. Evidence found at this visit demonstrates that this requirement has been met.
